averaging $35 this winter

Throughout the winter months, my pepco bill has been a tad bit high but I don't mind because I like my home toasty temperature wise.

The highest I have had to pay was $40 and some change but like i said, I'd rather give some money to the utility company than spend a whole lot more at the doctor's.

Should pepco or the doctor get my money?

The answer is neither one of them should. My pepco bill has been on the rise by $10 every month and so I've gone back to Mr Electric http://michaelbluejay.com/electricity/howmuch.html to learn how to fix the issue.

Since I don't do well in a cold environment, I have been cranking up the central a/c to about 80 daily, plus other appliances. I'm on a project to see if using a space heater in whatever room I currently am will shoot down my bill.

Will update the blog whenever I am chanced.

Status of my pepco billing

So below are the payments already made
$20.99 for 08/04/2008
$19.80 for 09/09/2008
$16.82 for 10/09/2008
$26.64 for 11/01/2008

The hike is on for the winter but I don't mind it too much as I need heat more than anything else.
I'm yet to pay the $30.98 due by 12/8/08

I'm not sure that heating is covered in my rental bill at this rate but hey, it's all good.

Goal for this month is to keep my usage <=12 kwh. Right now, the present reading is 7541. Will I make it? I can but not to the detriment of my health since I can't reallly tolerate the cold that well.

$20.99

So I made it with help and inspiration from mr electricity (michaelbluejay.com). I only used 90kwh of electricity and had to pay $20.99.

I still need to replace my kitchen light fixtures or get a lamp. The one I got from home depot did not work and the 4 flourescent tubings are most definitely consuming too much electricity.

Reading on June 12 and 6/20/08

My electric meter reading according to pepco on June 12 was 7491 resulting in energy usage of 400kwh in 6 weeks.

I'm onto them. I just read the meter today 8 days later and the reading is 7494. Therefore, I have consumed (present reading of 7494 - previous reading of 7491) 3kwh in 8days.

I'm replacing all my incandescent bulbs with 15watt CFL (compact CFL that have warranty clearly printed on them), my desktop 'puters are off and not receiving electricity supply, my laptop is charged every 2 hours while in use or not at all, central a/c is off and replaced by ceiling fan use and the tv is off when not in use.

On my electricity consumption monitoring purchase list is a Kill-a-watt, a rechargeable battery using SW band radio, and a rechargeable lamp.
